Update: BC women’s soccer head coach Alison Foley confirms Meehan is out indefinitely with Achilles injury.

After suffering an injury on the eve of the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup, Boston College women’s soccer captain McKenzie Meehan is on crutches and undergoing further evaluation.

On July 28, U.S. Soccer announced that UConn’s Rachel Hill would replace Meehan on the U20 roster due to injury, details of which remain unknown at this point.

Meehan dominated for BC during her sophomore season, scoring 20 goals in 23 games and leading the Eagles to an Elite Eight matchup against Florida State. The striker tormented goalkeepers at the international level as well, netting six goals and co-winning the Golden Boot at the 2014 CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Championship.

Any long-term injury to Meehan would level a devastating blow to head coach Alison Foley’s team, which seemed poised for another postseason run.

More information will be available by week’s end, according to BC.
