Junior defensive tackle Max Ricci has left the Boston College football team, the school confirmed today. Ricci played in all 12 games last year, making two starts and totaling 20 tackles. He is the third player to leave this spring, following running back Deuce Finch and wide receiver Johnathan Coleman.
Ricci leaves a hole at the defensive tackle position, which lost regular starter Bryan Murray to graduation. There will be pressure on returning players Dominic Appiah, Kieran Borcich, and Connor Wujciak to make an impact early, as well as incoming freshmen Tevin Montgomery and Truman Guptafel. BC also has sixth-year DT Kaleb Ramsey who is returning from a string of injuries. The Eagle defensive line struggled last year to put pressure on the quarterback and slow down the running game. The move makes new defensive coordinator Don Brown’s job to rebuild the defensive front even more challenging.
